SherCo Classic 1947 Season (PR)

SKU: SHR-1947pr Category:

1947 saw the unofficial color barrier broken by the Brooklyn Dodgers, who promoted a young first baseman by the name of Jackie Roosevelt Robinson from their AAA farm club in Montreal. Met with derision by some teammates and many opponents, Robinson “took ” the derision for the benefit of all African-American players to come, won the Rookie of the Year Award, and paved the way for other major league teams to shatter the social barrier that had stained the game for over 70 years.

1947 also saw a near no-hitter in the World Series as Bill Bevens came within one out of the feat in Game 4. The world would have to wait another nine years for the likes of Don Larsen …

You can replay this historic season on the tabletop with SherCo and follow the exploits of Dem Bums and Mr. Robinson …
