The Cardinals rode MVP Dizzy Dean's arm and 30 victory season to a World Championship. They squeaked past the Giants by 2 games to win the NL before downing the Tigers in a 7 game series. Ripper Collins was the hitting star tying Mel Ott for the homerun title. The Tigers had a slightly easier time of it with a 7 game lead on the Yankees at season's end. The G-men were the driving force, Greenberg, Gehringer, and Goslin. A team .300 batting average and 6.2 runs per game paved the way.
