From George Hines:
I tried Inverness too. I had an eagle on the 13th by Fred Couples. The winds were blowing at Inverness as Fred Couples launched a 358 yd drive down the middle of the fairway. A 505 yd hole was brought to its knees with a wedge shot of 148 yds to within 5ft of the hole. That was the highlight of the day for my selected golfers from the 1993 season.
Greg Norman, Paul Azinger, Dan Forsman joined Fred Couples on this journey. at this beautiful course.
This is my way of learning the course. I take golfers from the newest season play 10 rounds with each group of 4 players.
Inverness is going to be a real test. As in all course if you keep it on the short grass on the way to the green (ex. Greg Norman at 73 %) Good things will happen. Fred Couples could barely stay on the fairways with 53 % ended up +6 after making the turn at 38. Aside from Fred Couples eagle he was a poor 33.3 % for a GIR.
Greg Norman drove the ball the farthest at 310 yds just beating out Paul Azinger at 309 yds. Dan Forsman struggled at 284 yds.
Greg Norman showed in other areas as getting to the green in regulation (GIR) to the tune of 55.6 %. with three Birdies and two Bogie holes for a -1 with a tie at the turn with Paul Azinger with 2 Birdies and 3 Bogies. Paul Azinger then reversed his Birdies (3) and Bogies (2) after the turn to come up even par one stroke back from Greg Norman.
Dan Forsman the weakest of the hitters with 284 yds struggled with 31 putts and a 2nd to Greg Norman in GIR at 50.0 %. Tied with Fred Couples with at 38 at the turn after a Birdie, Double Bogie and a Bogie. Forsman steadied himself with just a Bogie on the backside. for a +4.
The toughest hole scoring wise was the Par 4, 4th, 466 yds with Forsman with a Double Bogie. The rest of the complement with Bogies.
The Eagle hole by Fred Couples a par 5 , 505 yds, gave way to Forsman Par and Birdies by Azinger and Norman.
Order it up gold faithful, its a winner. G.H.
