Summary:

After the two golfers went nose to nose for the first five holes, Boros collapsed to take a nine on the par 4 6th hole to go down one. Although he birdied the 7th to tie the match again, he was one down at the turn, having double bogeyed the 9th hole.  He clearly wasn’t on his game, while Phil Rodger was consistant and took advantage of Boros’ errors. He won the 11th through the 14th holes with four pars and a birdie. It was almost a mercy killing when he nailed a wedge to 3’ on the 14th for an easy birdie to put away the match.  Rodgers was -1 when he ended the match, while Boros was a shocking plus ten after 14 holes.  Phil Rodger moves on to the Championship match against either Tom Weiskopf or Bruce Lietzke.
