Pebble Beach World Match Play Championship

While waiting for the 8th and final match to conclude in the Gary Player Division, the 1st match has just finished in the Sam Snead Division.  The veteran #8 seed 2011 David Toms takes the youngster #9 seed 2011 Jason Day to the cleaners with a 5 & 4 victory.  Day bogeyed 4 holes on the front 9 that gave Toms a 3 UP advantage at the turn.  And it didn’t get much better on the back 9 as Day bogeyed 2 holes while Toms just stayed out of trouble letting Day self-destruct.   Toms carded 4 birdies on the “Day” while Jason posted 1 birdie to go along with his 6 bogeys.

In the Gary Player Division, #6 seed 2009 Zach Johnson just birdied the par 4 403 yard 16th hole to take a 1 UP lead with 2 holes to play against #11 seed 2011 Robert Karlsson.
