We received this first course review of ASG Courses in response to a post on Delphi:

I own 12 courses and think George and Richard do a fantasic job on all of them. To answer your question, I think it would depend on what you like. I, personally, like courses where high/risk reward holes exist and lower scores are possible, rather than grind it out, lucky to make par courses.

For that reason, excluding Augusta, which you have, I probably enjoy TPC Scottsdale the most. Holes 15-18 offer 4 great finishing holes. Phil Mickelson shot a 59 for me on this course. I had a great tournament with Phil at -23, Jack Nicklaus at -22, and Tiger at -20. Each hole seems to offer up scoring opportunities and I have even had short hitters be competitive here. Sawgrass, with the famous 17, is also a favorite of mine. Several risk/reward holes here, too. Bayhill falls into the same category for me. Lots of water hazards there.

For more challenging courses, I like Pebble Beach and Cypress Point. Maybe others, have had more luck than me, but I find -2 to even a good score at Pebble. Have an errant tee shot near the ocean and go off a cliff.. and there goes your score. The 8th, 9th, and 10th at Pebble I find my golfers lucky to come out of those with Par. Since Cypress Point was rated #1 course in the US last year, and the PGA doesn’t play it anymore…….I found this one a must purchase. Couldn’t resist the 16th hole there.

For a difficult course, I prefer Bethpage Black. But the short hitters are tough to win with, due to some of the drive lengths required.

Those are my favorites, and of course, I love St. Andrews, which you have, too.

BUT I do like all 12 of the courses, I have……… don’t think you can go wrong with any of them….

    Jerry Minks
